If I recall the writers confirmed they intended her to be a drunk but the network wouldn’t allow it to be outright stated so they just habitually referred to her mixed drinks as “smoothies” and made sure her behavior alone telegraphed it.

Batman the animated series had to nerf Joker
In the comics and Tim Burton movie he was a serial killer and would regularly shoot his own goons to release his anger (R.I.P. Bob)
But for Saturday morning cartoons…. they couldn’t have that
So the writers invented “Joker gas” a liquid that would immediately vaporize into a gas that caused sustained uncontrollable laughter that would lead to a coma like state accompanied with a wide eyed pained smile that left untreated would become permanent
(It would also mostly replace his acid spray in his flower for most uses)
And not everyone shown to be exposed to the stuff got help or even got discovered
The Joker was immune to the stuff so he could spray it everywhere and douse large groups at a time
This was far more terrifying to me than a bullet and changed Joker for the better/worse

similar to the concept of the Uncanny Valley, the “Flash Game Valley” is when a 2D video game uses high-res art assets instead of pixelated art assets and ends up looking worse instead of better
for example, here is the game Chicken Wiggle on 3DS
fairly standard 2D pixel art. looks alright.

you see how, despite all of the assets being higher resolution, the end result looks like less effort was put in to it than the original? the whole thing feels “cheaper?”
that’s the Flash Game Valley
This same problem applies to mobile ports/remakes too. The sort of flat glossy sheen a lot of their UI elements and graphical assets have look exactly like cheap flash games.

I did this a while back, because:
A) I love pixel art
B) Nintendo refuses to give us another 2D metroid sidescroller. I’ve been yearning for one for over a decade now :(
All assets were done from scratch, and it’s done in pixel perfect resolution for a top 3DS screen(I’ve tried porting the image to my 3DS to see how it would look but the system software makes that near…impossible)
I’ve been watching this video from this really cool piece of Flowey, and I wanted to make cool pixel art too! So I took a sketch and did a Napst.
Hey, so I will be moving sometime soon and since 1) my job doesn’t give me enough hours and 2) I won’t have a car to get to said job soon, I could use the help making enough for bus money.
I do Pixel art commissions starting from $5 up based on the size, complexity and estimated time of completion for what is asked of me. I can do gifs and mockups with final prices being negotiable based on the same parameters as for a single sprite.
I take paypal and I’m willing to negotiate prices if someone asks for a job just out of their price range.
I could really use the help as I’m dealing with trying to find a new job/place in Alexandrai/DC.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
